Bohle | Portals Introduces NEW VetroClamp
Multi-Adjustable Surface-Mount Base Clamps for Glass Railing

[Kansas City, MO, 3/9/2026] — Bohle | Portals today announced the launch of their VetroClamp Multi-Adjustable Glass Rail Base Clamps, a new line of surface-mount base clamps engineered for the realities of the job site.
These new clamps' defining feature are their dual-axis adjustability, which allows installers to compensate for floor grade variance at the base and correct vertical glass panel tilt at the jaw assembly — without custom fabrication, shimming, or field callbacks.
"Base clamps like VetroClamp have seen significant adoption in residential stair applications, and rightfully so — but that popularity comes with responsibility," said Andrew Chatfield, Product Manager, Railing.
The new Multi-Adjustable clamps address one of the most persistent challenges in glass railing specification: the gap between what drawings show and what installers encounter in the field.
"Every experienced installer knows that field conditions rarely match the drawings," Chatfield continued.
"Substrate variations, post-pour tolerances, anchor point deviations — these are realities that no set of specifications fully anticipates. What we've built is a base clamp line that acknowledges that reality and works with it."
The result, he notes, has implications that go beyond convenience.
"The goal is to give specifiers the confidence to write the product in and give installers the flexibility to execute without having to re-engineer the spec on the fly. In glass railing, that kind of adaptability isn't just a convenience — it's a code compliance issue."

ANNOUNCING: VetroClamp Multi-Adjustable Glass Rail Base Clamps
The multi-adjustability of these clamps makes them the specifier's choice when substrate conditions are unknown or inconsistent — eliminating costly shimming, field callbacks, and change orders on demanding installs.
SSM-AD906-SMB / SSM-AD906-SBR — Heavy Glass (9/16"–3/4")
These are the heaviest-duty clamps in the VetroClamp line, built for applications requiring thicker glass for code compliance or engineering specification.
> | Engineered for applications requiring thicker glass for code compliance or engineering specification. |
> | Features dual-axis field adjustability for floor grade and vertical panel tilt correction. |
> | Third-party certified for load-bearing railing. |
> | Available in satin matte black and satin brushed stainless. |
SSM-AD902-SMB / SSM-AD902-SBR — Standard Glass (3/8"–1/2")
The most versatile clamp in the line, compatible with the most widely used glass thicknesses across railing, windscreen, and partition applications.
> | Dual-axis adjustability allows installers to correct for imperfect substrates without custom fabrication or site delays. |
> | Available in satin matte black and satin brushed stainless. |
How to Configure a Code-Compliant Load-Bearing VetroClamp System
When correctly configured with 11/16" glass and applicable code requirements — including caprail — the VetroClamp system is third-party certified for true load-bearing railing on balconies and stairs.
"After three decades in this industry, I've seen what happens when the wrong product gets specified for a load-bearing stair installation." says Chatfield.
"Our priority is ensuring that contractors and specifiers can stand behind their work with full confidence: that the system will pass inspection the first time, that the structural performance is there, and that no one is making a return trip to the jobsite to address a failed panel or a non-compliant installation."
Which products would you need to configure a code-compliant, load-bearing spigot or base clamp glass railing system?
For code compliance, there are many factors to consider but the top considerations for code-compliance when using VetroClamp should be glass thickness (11/16"), two (2) clamps per four (4) feet length of glass panel, and installing a caprail or handrail.
Before finalizing a configuration, it's recommended that professionals contact a product manager to look over drawings and offer insight into code challenges they might face upon inspection.
The following Bohle products could be utilized in a code-compliant railing or balcony configuration.
Base Clamps:
> | SSM-AD906 - Multi-Adjustable Glass Railing Base Clamps |
Caprail:
> | CUS-11901 - Caprail for glass railing |
> | CUS-CR901 - Corner caprail for glass railing |
> | CUS-EC901 - Corner caprail for glass railing |
Connectors:
> | SGC-AD181 - Adjustable glass-to-glass connector |
> | SGC-NA093, SGC-NA094 - Square glass-to-glass connector |
> | SGC-NA182 - Non-adjustable glass-to-glass connector |

The Rest of the VetroClamp Product Family
In addition to the new Multi-Adjustable clamps, the VetroClamp line includes a full range of configurations to address every installation condition:
Adjustable Stair Base Clamps (SSM-AD903 / SSM-AD905)
Pre-inclined at 35° for left- and right-side stair railing runs, with base adjustability for fine-tuning at the panel level. Designed to eliminate guesswork on stair installations by providing a pre-set base geometry matched to standard stair pitch. Specify the AD903 and AD905 together for a complete, aesthetically consistent stair solution.
Fixed Base Clamp (SSM-AD904)
A streamlined, lower-cost option for straightforward projects where substrate and layout conditions have been fully verified prior to installation. Designed for heavier glass (9/16"–11/16"). Currently available in satin matte black.
Adjustable Inline Base Clamp (SSM-IN901)
A double-sided clamp for panel-to-panel connections at 180° on continuous straight runs. Independent jaw adjustability on both sides allows each adjacent panel to be corrected separately — critical when panels are cut to different tolerances or substrate conditions shift across a run.
Adjustable Corner Base Clamp (SSM-CR901)
A double-sided 90° clamp for perpendicular panel connections at exterior corners, deck railings, balconies, pool fencing, and commercial partitions. Eliminates the need for custom corner posts or field fabrication, with independent jaw adjustability on each panel face.
Adjustable End Base Clamps (SSM-EN901 / SSM-EN902)
Single-sided clamps for right- and left-side panel run terminations. Provides a finished, intentional endpoint for glass railing, windscreen, and partition runs, with jaw adjustability to ensure the termination panel aligns cleanly with the rest of the installation regardless of field conditions.
All VetroClamp products are available in satin matte black (SMB) and satin brushed stainless (SBR) unless otherwise noted.
